The Ranchers 0.8.10.455 Hotfix: Offline and Co-op Checks
Answer first
Solo play is designed to work offline after the launch hotfix, while online co-op still needs Steam sign-in and an internet connection. If a friend cannot join, compare both title-screen builds first; an old 0.8.10.455 symptom is not automatically a current 0.8.10.842 bug.
Offline loading
The launch hotfix addressed a case where Steam Offline Mode could remain on a loading screen. That is a versioned fix, not a promise that every loading problem is offline-related. Start with the current title-screen version and preserve the save before testing again.
- Let Steam finish its automatic update while online.
- Launch once online and confirm the title screen reaches the main menu.
- Switch Steam to Offline Mode and retry the same solo save.
- If the current build still hangs, record whether it happens before the menu, while loading the save, or after entering the ranch.
- Submit the build, platform and reproduction rather than deleting the save.
Joining a friend's session
The same launch update addressed players being unable to join a friend's co-op session. Co-op remains an online feature, and both players should be signed into Steam with the same game build before diagnosing the invitation flow.
What remains current after 0.8.10.842
- The latest reviewed build is 0.8.10.842, so launch-hotfix reports are historical context unless reproduced again.
- Solo offline play and online co-op have different requirements; do not use an offline test to judge an invitation problem.
- A failed join should be connected to the friend-session troubleshooting page, while a loading hang belongs with the offline loading page.
