About The Ranchers Guide
What this site is
theranchersguide.com is an independent, fan-made guide website for The Ranchers — the open-world ranch life sim developed by RedPilz Studio and published by Trophy Games, available in Steam Early Access since July 30, 2026. We build the things we wanted as players: clear beginner guides, honest money-making frameworks, searchable crop and animal databases, an interactive map, and a profit calculator that ranks anything by profit per in-game day.
Our goal is to bring scattered answers into one practical reference for the current patch cycle. Versioned facts show their source and build where available, while details we have not verified stay clearly marked instead of being filled in with a guess.
How we write our guides
Our editorial rule is simple: never invent numbers. A longer table is not more useful when its prices or timings are guesses. Data pages keep unknown fields pending rather than printing a plausible-looking estimate, while strategy pages separate official game features from our own planning advice. When two sources disagree, we show both values side by side with dates instead of picking one and hiding the other. Source hierarchy
Not every source carries the same weight. We rank evidence from strongest to weakest and label each page accordingly:
- Official sources: the Steam store page, official Steam announcements, developer patch notes, and publisher posts. These define the current scope and confirmed mechanics.
- Direct observation: a repeatable action in a named game version, preferably supported by a screenshot or short clip with a timestamp.
- Community reports: useful leads for testing. They remain labeled as reports or leads until stronger evidence supports the result.
- Editorial advice: our recommendations, formulas and planning frameworks, clearly labeled as analysis rather than hidden game rules. The profit calculator and the three-bucket reinvestment rule fall into this category.
Our editorial process
Source-backed updates follow this workflow before they go live:
- Collection. Evidence is gathered from official updates, public gameplay footage, owned-build configuration files and community reports. Each item records the game version, the source, and the date it was captured.
- Verification. Each numerical claim keeps its source and build context. Gameplay claims need a repeatable observation or corroboration; configuration-only values stay labeled as build references.
- Grading. Each entry uses the evidence labels documented in our methodology so readers can distinguish official information, direct observations, community reports and editorial analysis.
- Writing. Guides are written with the direct answer first, then the evidence, then the caveats. Strategy advice is kept separate from documented mechanics.
- Review. A final pass checks for version consistency, broken links, and any claim that lost its source during editing.
Fact-checking standards
Published numbers keep their source, build and validity context whenever those details are available. Configuration records are not presented as tested gameplay outcomes, and older observations remain labeled as historical when a newer patch supersedes them. Pages with unknown fields say so explicitly; we would rather leave a gap than fill it with a plausible-looking estimate.
Update commitment
During Early Access, the game changes frequently. After a notable patch, we review affected pages and flag sections that may be outdated before rewriting them. The update impact notes page tracks what each patch changes and which guides need a refresh. If you spot something that looks stale, the fastest way to help is the contribution form — include the version and a screenshot so the report can be checked.
About the editor
The site is researched, written and maintained by Niki. The work includes data verification, guide writing, site maintenance and reviewing reader reports. When a community report materially improves a page, the contributor may be credited there with permission.
