Current-build troubleshooting

The Ranchers Problems & Fixes

Short decision guides for problems that players actually report. Every answer names its build, evidence level and source; unresolved reports stay in the research queue instead of becoming guessed fixes.

Start with the symptom

Find a fix or tracked report

Search plain-language symptoms, then separate published answers from reports that still need reproduction. Early Access changes quickly, so check the evidence label before acting.

Start with the action: for a loading problem, update and launch once while Steam is online; for a friend-session issue, compare both builds and Steam presence; for a vehicle problem, check My Garage before assuming the save is lost. For an unresolved report, open its source and record the current build before relying on it.

Exiting a vehicle can drop the player through the map

A launch-week review reports falling through terrain after leaving a vehicle. Vehicle type, road position and recovery behavior still need a clean reproduction.

Excess electricity cannot be sold as expected

Official material says surplus energy can be sold, but current activation conditions, meter behavior and payout timing have not been retained as evidence.

A safer order for troubleshooting

Most reports do not need a risky reset. Start with the least destructive check that can distinguish an old report from a current symptom.

  1. Confirm the build and mode. Write down the title-screen version, platform, single-player or co-op mode, and whether the save is new or continued.
  2. Preserve the original state. Keep a backup or screenshot before moving an animal, vehicle, quest item or building.
  3. Repeat one trigger. Test only the action that caused the symptom, then note what changed. Do not combine a reload, demolition and quest replay into one test.
  4. Use the evidence status honestly. A published guide is an available path, while an open report is a lead that still needs reproduction. See how those labels work.
