The Ranchers Vehicles Guide: Driving, Parking and Travel
Answer first
Vehicles shorten trips across Sunvale, but they need a parking routine. Keep them at your ranch or a designated Overnight Parking location. Use My Garage when a vehicle is broken, drowned, destroyed or stuck; repaired vehicles are returned through the nearest Car Pound. For fuel, damage and repairs, follow the current-build vehicle steps.
What vehicles solve
Vehicles are the long-distance option for exploring Sunvale, reaching town services and moving between the ranch and city. They are useful when a quest asks you to drive, when a supply run would otherwise take too long, or when you need to carry a route through the open world. They are not the only travel system: the Subway covers local fast travel, and selected main quests can skip the driving segment.
The June transport update describes a revised driving system and vehicle categories, but it does not provide a stable public comparison of top speed, fuel economy or purchase value. Treat “best vehicle” claims as unverified unless they include a build, method and reproducible test.
How to get or unlock a vehicle
There is no single universal unlock condition confirmed by the sources retained here. The safe route is to follow the opening quest chain and read the objective shown in your current build.
- Current gameplay reference: the opening quest chain includes repairing Victor's old car, using the Bykii terminal while it is unavailable, and then collecting the new car. This is a video observation from 0.8.10.455, not a promise that every save or future build uses the same timing.
- Dealerships: the official transport announcement names several city dealerships, but the announcement does not establish a complete current price list or a universal purchase requirement. Use the map and the in-game objective rather than an old list.
- Stolen vehicles: replace the plate at AutoHue before expecting My Garage to manage the vehicle. Forged plates have a separate permanent-seizure risk outside approved parking.
Vehicle catalogue
Editor-collected vehicle definitions from build 0.8.10.842. Names and short descriptions come from the bilingual game text; dealer links come from separate shop tables. Catalogue presence does not establish current drivability or availability.
Transport service objects
Only 4 of 186 NetEnvObj environment definitions have player-readable transport names. The other 182 are internal identifiers or lack localization, so they are not promoted to places. Environment-object names alone do not establish exact coordinates, prices, current operation or availability; dialogue terms are listed separately below.
Rental, repair & travel terms
These terms come from current-build bilingual dialogue and matching actions. Listed amounts are not individually gameplay-tested; current operation and complete destinations remain unknown.
- Bicycle rental terminal
The bilingual terminal dialogue lists a 1 C day rental and a 100 C destruction penalty. It checks stock, deducts 1 C, marks the assigned bicycle with a green light and says staff collect it at day's end.
- Taxi rental terminal
The bilingual TaxiCo dialogue lists a 10 C day rental and a 100 C destruction penalty. It checks stock, deducts 10 C, marks the assigned taxi with a green light and reports when no taxi is available.
- Vehicle repair dialogue
The country-mechanic path checks merchant availability, repairable vehicle content and sufficient funds before invoking a repair-all action; the displayed total is runtime-filled and no fixed amount is retained.
- Subway travel actions
The subway dialogue exposes local travel, international travel and a return-to-ranch action. A matching local-ticket node checks and deducts 3 C; a separate current-build line describes the metro as open 24/7, but runtime operation and the destination list remain untested.
- Remote portal travel action
Remote-portal dialogue describes entry to a shared space for meeting other Ranchers, includes respect/privacy/reporting guidance, and exposes options to return to the player's ranch or visit a friend. No fee, destination list or current availability is established.

How to use and protect a vehicle
- Drive the route or use the quest option. When a selected main quest offers skip driving, the vehicle and listed passengers can be transported to the destination.
- Park deliberately. Return to the ranch or use one of the designated Overnight Parking locations. A random roadside space is not automatically approved parking.
- Use My Garage for recovery. Open the smartphone app and check whether the owned vehicle is still listed. Broken, destroyed, drowned or stuck vehicles can be sent to the mechanic.
- Check the return location. Repaired vehicles are returned through the nearest Car Pound parking location. The map directory can help you identify the relevant transport area.
- Handle stolen vehicles separately. Go to AutoHue for the plate step before treating My Garage as the recovery route.
Vehicles, subway and quest travel
Sunvale currently has 15 Subway stations. Use the Subway when the destination is covered by local travel instead of driving the whole route. Attached or roped animals can travel with the player; the 0.8.10.562 hotfix specifically fixed a reported freeze path for roped animals after Subway travel.
Quest travel is a separate path. Selected main quests offer a skip-driving option that transports the vehicle, passengers, NPCs and farm animals listed by the official update. If the option is absent, do not assume every quest supports it.
Use the interactive map for transport areas and parking directory entries, and the Subway troubleshooting page when the problem is travel rather than vehicle ownership.
When a vehicle is missing or unusable
Keep the symptom narrow. “Vehicle missing after loading,” “vehicle unresponsive at AutoHue,” and “roped animal frozen after Subway travel” are different reports with different known histories.
- Confirm the title-screen build is 0.8.10.842 or later and keep the original save.
- Open My Garage and check the owned-vehicle list.
- For damage, water, destruction or a stuck vehicle, send it to the mechanic.
- Check the nearest Car Pound and the last approved parking location.
- If the vehicle is still absent, record platform, save context, last location, trigger and before/after state, then use the contribution form.
Co-op considerations
In co-op, decide who is driving and who is handling the destination before starting a long route. Official quest-travel notes include passengers, NPCs and farm animals in the selected skip-driving transfer, but they do not establish a general shared-vehicle ownership rule.
There is no retained official confirmation that every player can freely drive another player's owned vehicle. Treat the car's owner and the quest's temporary vehicle as separate cases: check the relevant My Garage list, the current objective and the build before calling it a bug. If a friend cannot join, use the multiplayer guide rather than treating it as a vehicle problem.
What is still unverified
- The 40-entry build catalogue records source definitions, not a confirmed list of currently drivable vehicles.
- No speed, handling, fuel or profit ranking is published.
- No universal dealership price or unlock condition is inferred from the announcement.
- Older Alpha or demo driving advice is historical unless it has a current-build reproduction.

Vehicle basics: fuel, damage, repair and player energy
Short answer: Watch the top-left fuel and damage gauges while driving. Refill fuel vehicles at a petrol station, repair damage at QuickFix, and restore player energy when a vehicle uses it instead of fuel.
- Read the top-left gauges: A fuel vehicle shows its fuel gauge at the top left; it goes down as you drive. Consumption varies with vehicle type and performance. The damage gauge is also shown at the top left.
- Refill before fuel runs low: Take a fuel vehicle to any petrol station to refill. The tutorial describes petrol stations as open 24/7.
- Limit impact damage and use QuickFix: Crashing into objects damages the vehicle, and a faster hit causes more damage. Heavy damage can affect stability and turning. QuickFix repairs vehicles 24/7, including during a police chase; cost depends on the damage level.
- Recover player energy when required: Some vehicles use player energy while you drive. Longer driving drains more; eating, resting or sleeping restores it, and vehicle efficiency affects consumption.
Game files The source does not provide fuel capacity, exact consumption rates, damage thresholds, repair amounts, a vehicle-by-vehicle energy mapping, service coordinates, or independent runtime availability. Checked against 0.8.10.842.
