Gigi large-egg quest walkthrough
Answer first
Bring 2 large chicken eggs, speak to Gigi, lose the police, return her home, then speak to her again. Returning home alone is not completion: the final conversation and escape checks must both pass.
The overview says 12 eggs, but the objective and inventory check require 2 large eggs. These steps come from the owned 0.8.10.842 build; subway and walking tips below are player workarounds, not required transport modes.

Step 1: getting 2 large eggs
Corroborated by players
The quest needs 2 large eggs, and regular eggs do not count — Bobthekiller's exact blocker in "Real eggs, real evidence" (Aug 4, 2026) was only ever receiving regular eggs. DJM's answer in the same thread: pet the chickens every day; when their rating goes up, they start laying larger eggs, and once you have 2, the quest shows you where to take them. Daily care is a player-reported route to try; these reports do not establish a guaranteed drop time or exclude other factors.
Keeping your chickens alive (the prerequisite)
Corroborated by players
Large eggs require living, cared-for chickens — and one player (minximoo24, "Animals keep dying", Aug 5) lost 12 chickens in a row despite having food and water. Two independent players (Fight or Flight Gamer and maxitubby) give the same survival checklist:
- Buy a heater — from the girl who sells you the chickens, not the one Meriam sells at City Hall.
- Fill the trough inside the coop with hay and water. An outdoor trough is not a Gigi quest requirement. Keep the coop accessible; an enclosed outdoor roaming area affects large-egg chances, not the daily trough requirement. See the feeding and large-egg reference.
- Deposit chicks inside the barn, not in the enclosure.
- Sickness → vet immediately. Watch their health daily.
Single report Need hay for feed? Player Tila's answer in a Steam discussion (Aug 5, 2026) — "chop bushes or loot crates and barrels on the NPC farms" — was confirmed working by the player who asked (Zechpreller). One player-sourced route, labeled accordingly.
Chicken coop delivery bug (know before you stock the coop)
Single report
Hotfix 0.8.10.562 (August 11, 2026) officially fixed chicks disappearing or becoming stuck inside the coop while progressing to their next growth stage — the official notes do not explicitly say whether the door-delivery path below is covered, so we do not claim it as fixed. Big Grizzly reports a detailed coop bug in "A temp chicken issue fix!" (Aug 4): if you submit chickens at the coop door (open or not), they enter the coop's stock count but disappear — or end up stuck "inside the coop but on the outside." You must physically carry and deposit them inside the coop. One historical report describes demolishing and rebuilding the coop as a recovery attempt. This is not a verified fix for your save: do not demolish the coop as a first step. Preserve a backup and use the linked troubleshooting checks first. This is a single but detailed player report. Update to 0.8.10.842 or later first; if the door-delivery symptom still reproduces on the current build, treat it as an unfixed residual and follow the disappearance troubleshooting flow to report it.
Egg fertility and the "Infertile" label
Official · current EA
Hotfix 0.8.10.562 also replaced the egg label "Failed to hatch" with "Infertile" for clarity — an official confirmation that a fertility/hatching mechanic exists in the current build. We have not re-tested hatching details on the current build (rates, incubation conditions), so nothing beyond the label change is claimed here. For the quest itself only large-egg drops matter; fertility is relevant only if you are trying to hatch chicks from eggs.
Step 2–3: handing over the eggs and escaping the police
Corroborated by players
Handing over the eggs triggers a police chase, and three independent players give the same advice: take the subway to the hand-in, do not drive (Seansniper27 — "went in by subway and not car, found out the hard way"; bucfanjoe; Fight or Flight Gamer). A car chase with the starter vehicle is where most failed attempts happen.
For escaping on foot, bucfanjoe describes a route that worked ("Large Egg Quest Gone", Aug 3): run for the river — it usually shakes the drones — then continue under the ferris wheel and up toward the museum until the police lose you, then let Gigi catch up. Seansniper27 adds that the next objective can point you to her house, back to the hand-in spot, or somewhere in between — watch the tracker rather than assuming one fixed destination.
How the chase itself works — the 5 wanted levels, what force the police use at each one, and why police cars keep searching briefly after you lose them — is covered in the police wanted levels guide.
Stuck point: Gigi keeps following you and will not leave
Partially corroborated workaround
The most-reported blocker after the chase: the quest says "take Gigi home," but she keeps following you and you cannot drop her off (meijvistom, "Real Eggs, Real Evidence", Aug 2 — reloading and restarting did not help them). WildW0lf, whose car was impounded mid-quest, could never get Gigi back into a car and had to abandon the quest.
One detailed working route comes from Fight or Flight Gamer (in this thread): after the on-foot escape, talking to Gigi only repeated her egg line — but the mini-map showed a mission star marker that the big map did not. Following the mini-map star on foot, with Gigi following, led to her house — and only once at her front door did she become available to talk to, which cleared the quest. Our honest summary: this worked for at least one player but reloads do not reliably fix the stuck state for everyone, so the subway and on-foot route is an option to try, not guaranteed prevention.
If the quest disappears after failing
Conflicting reports — Unknown
Reports conflict here. AlterEgoGenral believes a failed quest can simply be retaken, but aes1218 ("Large Egg Quest Gone", Aug 3) failed the escape twice and reports the quest disappearing entirely, with no found way to re-trigger it. Whether a failed Gigi quest can always be re-accepted is currently Unknown. Our site recommendation: make a manual save before handing over the eggs, and check that the save can be loaded before starting; recovery is not guaranteed. See our failed-quest replay page for the general recovery route.
Is there anything after this quest?
Corroborated by players
No direct next quest is linked in the archived 0.8.10.842 record. That does not rule out another conversation or trigger starting a later task.
Early-August players described long waits with no call in one discussion and another. These dated reports do not establish the latest version’s full quest coverage.
Before hand-in and completion checklist
- Care for the chickens daily: pet them, fill the indoor trough with hay and water, check temperature, and provide an enclosed outdoor roaming area. These checks do not guarantee when a large egg will drop; a second outdoor trough is not required.
- Collect 2 large eggs — regular eggs do not count.
- Make a manual save before traveling to the hand-in.
- Choose your route. Players recommend the subway to avoid car-related problems; it is not a quest requirement.
- Lose the pursuit. The river–ferris wheel–museum route is one reported option, not a guaranteed escape. Let Gigi catch up.
- Follow the mini-map star marker (it may not appear on the big map) all the way to Gigi's front door, and talk to her there to finish.
Gigi quest FAQ
Why do I only ever get regular eggs?
Players report larger eggs after daily petting raises chicken ratings. Keep up care and check egg size; the source does not establish a guaranteed drop time. The quest checks 2 large eggs, not 12 regular eggs.
Gigi keeps following me and won't get out / won't go home. What do I do?
First check that the pursuit has ended, then return to her home area and speak again. A player completed this by following the mini-map star on foot. Treat walking as a workaround, not a guaranteed fix or required transport mode.
Gigi said she'd contact me but never did. Is my quest line bugged?
Early-August players reported no follow-up. The archived 0.8.10.842 quest has no direct next-quest link, but that does not rule out another trigger. No call alone is not enough to diagnose a broken save or prove the game’s quest line ends here.
